Video marketing and advertising is growing every day around the world. There's a lot to consider when crafting captivating content - ranging from production costs, advertising expenses, rendering. Yet, one simple important step is often looked over by even the best videographers.
Captioning your content.
Believe it or not, this small addition can drastically help you retain watchers far better than the base video ever could.

First of all, what are captions? Captions are the visual texts of the words being spoken synchronized to match up with each other on-screen.
Why it’s important to caption your videos.
Not everyone can hear - The first reason is quite simple. About 38.2 million Americans reported that they have hearing problems. Audio alone won't cut it. From a marketing perspective, this is an enormous audience that you wouldn't have been able to reach effectively reach without captions within your content.
People don’t speak the same language - A major part of producing content is that you want everyone to see it. Limiting yourself by language is putting your content at a disadvantage. Even if your content is in a well-spoken language, sometimes accents can be an issue too, which is where captions come into play.
Social Media- The default setting for videos on Facebook and Instagram is mute. Catch people’s eyes with captions and give them a reason to care before they know they need to care.
Audience Retention- It has shown that videos that have captions retain their viewers for longer periods of time and social media algorithms absolutely love this. The longer people view your content the higher likelihood your posts will be recommended to a broader audience of viewers.
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) - Fun fact, Google scrolls through its pages as new content gets uploaded, however, it can’t sort through videos but luckily it can sort through text. Captions allow for a higher SEO ranking on Google when uploading content.
Captions on your videos may seem like an afterthought or something you’ll do if you find the time. The thing is, captions can send your video content to the next level and allow you to reach audiences unobtainable than before.
It’s simple and straightforward.
There are plenty of easy to use applications to help you along the way.
